| This article gives an industry view on how the UK Government and the Nuclear Industry might proceed to progress the intention to build a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Understandably, it concludes that the UK must take positive actions now to avoid the energy gap which is likely to start emerging around 2012. It is unlikely that a new nuclear plant could be built in the UK by this time, but the sooner the framework is in place to encourage nuclear investment, the sooner it can contribute to creating a sustainable low carbon, secure and affordable electricity supply that is essential for the UK. British industry is more than ready to collaborate with the international nuclear vendors, the utilities and with the Government itself to bring this about.
