With the nuclear generation industry set for major expansion in the next decade, there is a big question mark over the capacity of the UK engineering profession to supply the skilled individuals required, particularly in the quality specialisation. Particular issues likely to arise in the expansion will include the difficulties of globalised procurement, the fragmentation of the industry and the lack of a centralised resource for knowledge and training.
